A man from Maryland, in the United States, has won a lottery jackpot for the third time using the numbers from his own truck’s broken odometer.
According to Maryland Lottery officials, Douglas Eck, 60, bought an old vehicle with the odometer stuck at 82,466 miles and has been playing the winning numbers every day.
The digits matched the numbers drawn and earned Eck a $25,000 prize. “This is my bronze medal, but I am still happy,” the winner said of his jackpot.
Eck previously won $50,000 from a drawing back in 1995 and $100,000 from a winning scratch-off ticket in 2008.
Earlier, another player from Maryland used her old licence plate number to win a $50,000 prize. The 43-year-old could hardly believe her luck when she realized all five numbers of her ticket came up in the drawing, winning her nearly Rs 40 lakh.
Yet another woman from the same state used the numbers 2-3-8-1-5, which her sister saw in a dream and ended up winning a nearly Rs 20 lakh prize.
According to Maryland Lottery, the bus her sister was riding in her dream bore the numbers on its registration plate.
“I was excited. I saw nothing in my Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets, but when I checked the Pick 5 it was straight across. I couldn’t believe it,” the winner said.
