Karachi flour mills go on strike against raids

Karachi flour mills strike

KARACHI: Flour mills in Karachi are on strike against sealing and raids by the Sindh food department, ARY News reported.

The emergency meeting of the general body of the flour mills associations has been summoned to take more decisions. The association said the food department did not provide them an adequate stock of wheat.

“The food department is not providing the wheat as per quota,” the association said and added that they are being forced to sell the flour at the government’s fixed rates. The association claimed that seven flours in Sindh including Karachi have been raided and sealed over ‘fake allegations’.

The millers have stopped the production of wheat and vowed not to fall prey to any ‘blackmailing’.

The Flour mills in Karachi also announced not to receive the wheat from the government’s godown from now.
